Harlequin skin disease

Harlequin Ichthyosis is rare genetic disorder affecting the skin of new born. In Harlequin Skin Disease ‘ABCA12” genes are affected. Mutation of ‘ABCA12’ genes causes skin to grow faster than its normal speed.
In this disorder skin of new born looks unhealthy; dirty; scaly; and dry.
Eyes look protruded and prone to infections. Harlequin causes sever loss of water from body through skin causing sever dehydration!!!
